After the annual deadline, The Homebound Project reviews applications and opens dialogue with Indigenous Nations
The Homebound Project works with a set amount of funding each year. We aim to keep costs as low as possible so that we can fund as many repatriations as we can. When grants are reviewed, The Homebound Project will work with Indigenous Nations to keep costs down while also respecting the customs and wishes of each Indigenous Nation.
Cost coverage
We provide funding for the physical relocation of Indigenous ancestors and cultural objects. There are two main pathways this can take: Shipping and Accompanying.*

* Accompanying is when Indigenous representatives travel to the institution that holds their ancestors or cultural objects and then travels home with their heritage in their possession. This often looks like Indigenous representatives carrying their ancestors or cultural objects in their hand luggage.
